Truly Free Laundry Detergent and More

After using so many different non-toxic and low-tox laundry detergents over the years, we finally made the switch to Truly Free laundry detergent in late 2023! As soon as we first tried it, we knew it was one we finally loved. It has been the only laundry detergent we have used for almost 3 years now. It’s non-toxic, it works so incredibly well, and it smells so good! We had tried different brands before Truly Free, and they either worked but left our clothes smelling dingy or they didn’t seem to clean the clothes much at all.

Truly Free laundry detergent has a fresh smell, and it washes our clothes so well. I love how you mix the refill pack with water because it makes it easy to store away extra refills. We’re never without refill packets! The refill packets are convenient to bring when traveling, also! Just mix with a jug of water, and you have laundry wash! Each refill packet is 50 loads of wash.

We also love the laundry stain spray for any stains. OxyBoost is a chlorine-free bleach alternative that I love to use for loads of towels, rugs, or whites. I just add a scoop right inside the load that needs a little extra boost. For the dryer, we use a few wool dryer balls along with the Truly Free Dryer Angel. The reusable dryer angel smells amazing! I usually dry towels, blankets, or sheets when I first put a new dryer angel in because the scent is pretty strong. I love that it’s nontoxic, and the scent slowly fades, but continues to leave our clothes smelling fresh. We use the same dryer angel for several months, and we put a new refill inside the cloth dryer angel when we notice the scent has lessened.

Truly Free Favorites:

In the next section, I’m sharing our most favorite non-toxic products from Truly Free (laundry favorites are also mentioned above in more details). These are the everyday staples we use in our house for cleaning and laundry. I love that these are all toxin-free!

Laundry Products we use:

Laundry Wash: It cleans our clothes so well, and it smells fresh! I also use the detergent in our upholstery cleaner (instead of the toxic cleaner it came with). See above for my full review of the laundry detergent.
*Laundry Wash Hack: Here’s a before and after picture of our dining room chairs I took one time when I was cleaning them. My secret weapon for using our upholstery/carpet cleaning machine is to use the Truly Free laundry wash mixed with water in the solution tank (instead of the toxic carpet cleaner the machine came with). I also use the Truly Free stain stick (mentioned below) to rub on any stains before using the upholstery machine on the chairs. I have done this cleaning combo on our dining room chairs SO many times, and they always turn out looking this much better!! We have had the upholstery cleaning machine for over 2 years, and we have always used only the Truly Free detergent in the solution tank. Works like a charm!!

Laundry Stain Spray: It works great on grass stains, kids’ stains, pet mess stains, etc! The stain spray is our go-to for laundry stains.

OxyBoost: OxyBoost is a chlorine-free and bleach-free alternative that makes whites whiter and colors brighter.

Laundry Machine Cleaner: This is a cleaner to clean your actual washing machine. We ditched the toxic machine cleaner we were using, and we only use this non-toxic cleaner whenever we notice the washing machine needs a deep cleaning.

Stain Stick: For extra tough grease stains, I sometimes pull out the stain stick. I especially love using the stain stick when I’m cleaning the upholstered dining chairs. It’s truly a miracle-worker!

Cleaning Around the House:

Everyday Cleaner: The Everyday Cleaner is what I use on our kitchen counters, in the sink, on the stovetop, on tables, on the walls, and just about anywhere! There are a few different scents (some are seasonal). This is the lemon scent which smells AMAZING. We also use the original scent which smells fresh, also. The Everyday Cleaner makes cleaning so easy because it really breaks down dirt and grime so it wipes away easily.

Bathroom Cleaner: I use the bathroom cleaner for bathroom counters (you could also use the Everyday Cleaner) and toilets (the seat and tank area).

Glass Cleaner: I love the glass cleaner for our bathroom mirrors!

Odor and Stain Eliminator Spray: We use this spray for stains on any carpets (i.e. pet messes). It works really well! I like that it is also an odor eliminator. I like to use this spray on carpets (pet messes again🤪) combined with the upholstery machine I mentioned above!

Hand Soap: We recently brought along the hand soap for our bathroom on a trip, and we all loved that it was foaming! It never dried out our hands, and the bottle lasted us a long time.

Space Freshener: We love this spray to freshen up a room.

In the Kitchen:

Dishwasher Soap: Our journey with finding a good non-toxic dishwasher soap was similar to our laundry wash journey..I wish I had found this dishwasher detergent sooner! We went through SO much trouble with other non-toxic brands (one made so many suds that it flooded our dishwasher…twice!🙃). Do yourself a favor and get the Truly Free dishwasher soap! We have never seen our dishes (and dishwasher itself for that matter) so sparkling clean! My husband even commented on how clean the dishes are now that we use the Truly Free dishwasher soap!! It’s the best non-toxic dishwasher detergent we have ever used!

Dish Soap: Truly Free dish soap is the only dish soap we have used the past couple of years. Don’t let the sweet basil scent discourage you from trying it. The scent is actually very pleasant (it’s not weird smelling at all!), and it works really well on all our hand wash dishes! We love this dish soap!

Dishwasher Cleaner: Occasionally we’ll use the dishwasher cleaner when we feel we need to detox our dishwasher. It breaks down any grime, hard water stains, and mineral deposits so your dishwasher runs smoothly. This gives the dishwasher a deep clean!
